Drying ?? Is Spring on it's way ?

Well evidence above would suggest so , but what an amount of rain we have had ! From 1st Oct 2023 to today we have had 489mm of rain . Last winter the same period we had 266mm of rain! Thank goodness for the drainage and paths! We really appreciate everyone's patience.

We managed to cut some Fairways last week and the next 2 days we intend to attempt to cut all Fairways, some Surrounds and some parts of the Roughs. We will leave some muddy water surface marks and possibly lots of grass clippings. Whilst this may look unsightly for a week or so we have to get on top of surfaces and allow them to dry out better. I know some will then ask why can't we have Winter wheeled Trolley's on yet ? but i'm sure you understand we have to do our work now and protect the Course as much as possible. I can assure you we are trying to get winter wheeled Trolleys on in some capacity as soon as we can.

Tees and approaches being verti-drained

Tees and Approaches have been verti-drained this week and the seeder is out this week overseeding Tees. Tees will also get a light top dressing this week and I hope to start getting off the Winter Mats in the next few weeks if the conditions let us

Worn areas on Greens are also being selectively overseeded this week , but we are not overseeding whole Green surfaces.

On the subject of Greens, I continue to get lots of feedback that they are playing and rolling well for the time of year especially after so much rain!. The Tree work and Top Changer work is really starting to show. More Top Changer work will start mid April conditions permitting.

A lot of Treework has been done this Winter, but apart from getting rid of the Stumps and clearing the scrub areas we are at the end of it for this Winter.

The project we started on 14th/13th pond and ditch will be completed in the next 4-6 weeks. As you all know we could not finish it because it got to wet and owing to the pond excessively overflowing through horrendous rainstorms, two walls slipped so we have to solve this issue. A few people have their opinions what happened and why ? but we have, and did, take construction advice and we know what we need to do. Please ask me directly if you want to know more rather than making ill-informed conclusions ! It's been an extremely wet and frustrating Winter !!

We also intend to start repairing paths next week . They have taken a battering but thank goodness we have had them.

The new Putting Green is really taking shape and we are on schedule to laying cores the week of the 2nd April weather permitting, ( more updates on that next week) . It's going to be awesome ! . The new smaller 'warm up' Putting Green has also been started at the Halfway House area.

I also just want to mention JP and Kevin who are doing some great work around the Clubhouse and 1st tee Winter mat amongst other things.

So lots going on by my team  and JP and Kevin. It's been tough working in these conditions so it's been important to work as a team and keep people's spirits up.

As ever the Greenstaff are eager to get started on things as soon as is possible

Once again thank you all for your patience it really has been out of our control this Winter.

ENJOY YOUR COURSE , ENJOY YOUR CLUB................IT'S YOUR REMEMBER!
