Your course update Nov 2025

Dear all, I trust your well and keeping warm?

Winter seems to have arrived very quickly but we are keeping things going for you the best we can. Noel will be emailing this update out on my behalf  and you will find the 2025/26 Winter policy attached to it which is basically the same as last years

Please follow all traffic management signs and check your Ig app each morning for daily updates re Buggy's and Trolley's

The very mild weather this Autumn has played havoc with regards to disease pressure.

We have been weekly, sometimes twice weekly, continuing to spray legal fungicides and turf tonics to suppress the disease. Those of you that have been playing will have noticed the greens have improved dramatically the last few weeks and now the colder weather has arrived things seem to have settled down. However we continue to spray preventative products to keep the disease at bay. I appreciate members support and understanding with this.

Those of you that attended the AGM will have heard Shah Tahir, one of our new Board members, give a brilliant factual science based answers as to what we are up against with disease on surfaces and going forward how this is a thing we have to get use to. It was very comforting to meet with Shah, (who defo knows and understands his soil Biology !), a week later and spend 2 hours showing him and discussing all what we have been doing to try to combat the disease. Shah basically gave us 98/100 for what we are  and have been doing aswell as working in conjunction with our two Agronomists. The other 2% was a debatable point that we both agreed was subjective !

Our Bunker rebuilding programme is progressing well. Of the 38 Bunkers we have, 22 have now had new drains, new liners and the new 'China Clay' sand put in .

PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE TO LET THE NEW SAND SETTLE AND WE WILL NEED TO TOP THEM ALL UP IN THE SPRING.

Rebuilt Bunker at 7th Green

We will continue with the remaining bunkers as weather and ground conditions allow

The rule still applies that if there is no rake in the bunker then its GUR.

We will soon commence our winter Tree work soon which will include letting some light in around the 8th Tee complex and continuing with our scrub clearing

On the subject of tree work I would like to thank all of those Members who came and helped plant all our new trees we have had delivered as part of our ongoing Tree Grant . They look great.

New Trees being planted by Volunteers and Members that kindly volunteered to help .All thanks to Thames Trust our Grant funders

The changes to the 13th Green complex are almost complete. Most members I speak to are very very pleased with the changes. We have a slight issue with the pump tank which we will address with the Contractor returning to assist once ground conditions improve in the Spring. In the meantime please do not walk on the new Turf to the left of the Ponds as it needs time to root.

13th Green Changes looking great!

We have finished 'Shockwaving' the fairways to help assist with the Drainage.

Finally on behalf of the Greens team and myself I would like to welcome all of our New Members to the Club and also our 3 New Board Members namely Perry Morgan , Lee Potter and Shah Tahir to the Board.

That's it for now , keep warm!
